Overview

We supply gray iron, ductile iron and austempered ductile iron (ADI) components for equipment bases, housings, bearing supports and other industrial parts. Material and casting route are selected around the part’s load, wear, vibration and service conditions. Our partners can coordinate iron casting, including automatic or shell molding, then add machining for specified bores, faces and mounting features. ADI combines ductile-iron casting with heat treatment, while gray and ductile grades serve different design needs. AMES connects cast iron to both Casting and Machining so material, condition and finishing are considered together.

Supply options

Iron families

Gray iron, ductile iron and ADI components.

Molding routes

Automatic or shell molding routes for suitable designs.

Machining

Machining for cast-iron bores, faces and mounting interfaces.

Typical parts

Typical fit includes equipment bases, housings and bearing supports.

Manufacturing route

An iron-casting route may combine molding, ADI heat treatment and machining of specified interfaces.

Automatic molding

Mechanized equipment prepares sand molds in a production sequence for iron castings.

Shell molding

Resin-bonded sand forms a thin shell on a heated pattern; shell halves are joined to make the mold.

Austempering

A heat treatment gives ductile iron the ADI structure and property set.

CNC machining

Machining centers finish specified faces and bores on iron castings.

Materials

Iron families differ in graphite structure and treatment, so the specified grade should match the part’s functional requirements.

Austempered ductile iron (ADI)

Heat treatment develops a strength-and-toughness balance for parts designed around ADI properties.

Ductile iron

Its strength and elongation balance can suit load-bearing cast components; grade determines the properties.

Gray iron

Often used for machine bases and housings where vibration damping and machinability are useful.

ADI is listed for AMES-CAST-02; gray and ductile iron also appear in the broader network catalog. Grade and route are matched to the part.
