Overview

We coordinate specified surface finishing for cast, forged, stamped and machined components through independent manufacturing partners. Depending on the base material, part geometry, finish requirements and available production route, a project may consider powder coating, plating or anodizing. Preparation, masking, finish requirements and inspection points are confirmed against the part specification and matched to the selected partner route.

Finishing methods and coordination

Finish selection is project-specific: the substrate, geometry, specification and available partner route must fit.

Powder coating

A specified color or finish may be considered when pretreatment, coating system and available route suit the substrate and service environment.

Plating

A specified plated finish is matched to the base material, requested finish and service requirements.

Anodizing

Anodizing may be considered for suitable aluminum components when the alloy, requested finish and production route fit.

Preparation and masking

Preparation and masking requirements follow the finish specification and the part’s functional surfaces.

Materials

Finish suitability depends on the exact alloy, surface condition, geometry, service environment and specified acceptance criteria.

Steel alloys

Potential treatments are matched to the grade, condition and requested finish; no single route is assumed.

Stainless steel

Finish requirements are considered with the alloy, surface condition and intended service environment.

Aluminum alloys

Anodizing or another specified finish is considered only when the alloy, requested finish and production route are compatible.

Cast iron

Surface condition and part geometry are reviewed with the specified finish and available route.

Finish, process and acceptance requirements are confirmed for each part with an independent production partner.
